The Rocky Mountain National Park Hiker Shuttle is gearing up to begin operations later this month.

According to a news release via nps.gov, from Friday, May 27 to Monday, Oct. 10, the Rocky Mountain National Park Hiker Shuttle will provide service from the Estes Park Visitor Center to Rocky Mountain National Park's Park & Ride Transit Hub, located on Bear Lake Road.

Once at Park & Ride, passengers may transfer to the Bear Lake or Moraine Park Shuttles to reach desired trailhead destinations.

Some hiking trails are accessed directly from the Park & Ride; it's important for all passengers to note that the Hiker Shuttle will not make any other stops in Rocky Mountain National Park besides the ones included on the shuttle route via nps.gov, which you can view below:

What You Need To Know About The Rocky Mountain National Park Hiker Shuttle

As per nps.gov,

  • Departure times for Hiker Shuttle buses leaving the Estes Park Visitor Center and heading to Rocky Mountain National Park are as follows: 9 a.m., 9:45 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 11:15 a.m., 12:00 p.m., 12:45 p.m., 1:30 p.m., and 2:15 p.m.
  • The Hiker Shuttle will return to the Estes Park Visitor Center from Park & Ride at the following times: 9:45 a.m., 10:15 a.m., 11:15 a.m., 12:00 p.m., 12:45 p.m., 1:30 p.m., 3:00 p.m., 3:45 p.m., 4:30 p.m., and 5:15 p.m.
  • The last shuttle of the day will depart from Park & Ride to return back to the Estes Park Visitor Center at 5:15 p.m. There are no other buses to Estes Park, so be sure not to miss the last shuttle. 

In addition, seating on each shuttle will be limited; as such, all passengers are required to depart from the Estes Park Visitor Center using the specific shuttle time slot that they reserved. For instance, if a Hiker Shuttle reservation was been booked for the bus departing at 10 a.m., those passengers must depart on the 10 am bus.

Anyone who misses their designated shuttle is prohibited from transferring to a different departing hiker shuttle. However, passengers may use any returning Hiker Shuttle bus throughout the day in order to return to the Estes Park Visitor Center.

In order to ride the hiker shuttle, all passengers will be required to have a reservation ticket plus a valid park entrance pass. One person may reserve up to four tickets per $2 reservation.
