The Larimer County Coroner's Office has ruled the cause of death for the bodies found in Rocky Mountain National Park as a murder/suicide.

According to The Coloradoan, Tristen Watson, 24, killed her 17-month-old son, Christopher Watson, on Friday (Jan. 24) in Rocky Mountain National Park.

She then killed herself. Both died of gunshot wounds.

It is possible that Watson was pregnant. She announced she was expecting a baby girl in June on her Facebook page. Her obituary also states that three lives were lost in the incident.

However, the coroner's office would not confirm whether or not Watson was pregnant when she died.

Park rangers found Watson and her son on Friday afternoon after receiving a report about a suicidal person in the area. Her vehicle was located nearby.

Officials completed their autopsies on Monday (January 27). This investigation is still ongoing.

Contributions can be made to the National Alliance of Mental Illness (NAMI) of St. Tammany Parish in Louisiana in Watson's memory.
