Like you, Van Halen‘s former bassist Michael Anthony heard David Lee Roth‘s explanation for why the band pulled 30 dates from their current tour schedule. Roth said the group “simply bit off more than we could chew,” but Anthony isn’t quite so sure.

No Van Halen? No problem! That’s according to Van Halen Army, a tribute band that’s offered to step in and fulfill the concert dates on which their namesake group has pulled the plug.

No matter what you’ve heard, the guys in Van Halen are getting along just fine, thankyouverymuch, and only postponed some concert dates because they “bit off more than they could chew.” That’s the skinny straight from VH frontman David Lee Roth, who recorded a video to explain the recent events — in his own words.

The latest in a series of wide-ranging videos at Van Halen‘s official website features the elder band members sitting around a camera talking about old times like three friends sucking down brewskies in the garage. David Lee Roth leads a discussion in which Eddie and Alex Van Halen share how they would rig their stage and electronics to be ahead of their time in the early ’70s.

While Eddie and Alex Van Halen may be pushing 60 (currently 57 and 58-years-old respectively), it seems like the band’s legacy will carry on long after the brothers are finished. Eddie’s song, Wolfgang Van Halen, who’s been the band’s bass player since 2007, says he’ll keep playing the new and old songs the legendary rock band is famous for.

Good news for vinyl enthusiasts and Van Halen fans. Beginning May 4, the group is giving away a limited-edition seven-inch single of ‘She’s the Woman’ with the purchase of their new album, ‘A Different Kind of Truth.’
