You can go ahead and take going to the Colorado Mammoth Game for New Year's Eve off of your list, because the game has been postponed.

Colorado Mammoth Game Postponed

Although there are many things to do around Colorado for New Year's Eve, it's hard to find something different to do with your crew or family. This year, the Colorado Mammoth Lacrosse team in Denver had a New Year's Eve extravaganza planned for this Friday Night at the Ball Arena. Unfortunately, it's been announced that the game is no longer happening on the originally planned date.

Why did the Colorado Mammoth New Year's Eve Game Get Postponed?

The National Lacrosse League issued a statement on Monday afternoon regarding not just the Colorado Mammoth Game at Ball Arena, but all NLL games this weekend, as seen below.

While some fans are not supportive of this game no longer happening this Friday night to ring in the New Year, a lot of fans are with the league and understand the decision to play the game later in the season when, hopefully, these COVID 19 numbers aren't spiking as high as they are right now.

In an email from the Colorado Mammoth regarding the postponement, they said:

The National Lacrosse League announced today that the Colorado Mammoth game against the New York Riptide scheduled for Friday, December 31st at Ball Arena has been postponed. Your tickets for this game will be valid for the rescheduled date (TBD). In the event the game is not rescheduled, you will receive a refund back to your original form of payment. For more information about Friday’s postponement please visit ColoradoMammoth.com.

It's hard to predict what happens for next weekend's games, but the team will no doubt keep us all up to date. The National Lacrosse League isn't the only sports league taking extra precautionary measures, as the National Hockey League has also postponed some games, including two Colorado Avalanche games that were set to take place this week.

Here's to hoping numbers drop back down and we get things manageable again so more things like this don't need to be canceled moving forward. It's sure starting to feel like the movie "Groundhog Day," isn't it?

With that Mammoth game being called off, you're probably looking for something to do on Friday now. Here are some cool fireworks displays you can see all over Colorado on New Year's Eve.
