For over six years they've been a part of Downtown Loveland with great beers, cocktails, food and conversation. But the time has come for them to move to the other side of the bar.

I've been a fan of The Laureate Publick House, at the bottom of Lincoln Place in Downtown, since it opened in 2014. For several years, a photo of a great crowd (which included myself and a friend) was their Facebook cover photo. That was a great night.

This has been a place to relax; no pressures at all. They've had great craft beers from all over on tap, but not so many that you can't choose, just eight or 10. Their food menu and kitchen staff have been great, as well. Good drinks, delicious food, what else do you need?

It's been hard to beat. That's why Aaron and his team have prospered for the last six years, just north of 5th Street and Lincoln Avenue in between Doug's and Origins. I've sat and read in their window; it's great to watch people go by on Lincoln, enjoy a beer and read a book.

Unfortunately, the owners announced on Facebook that they have sold The Laureate and will be handing over the establishment to new blood immediately.

From their Facebook page:

Happy Start of the Week Loveland!
We hope you all had a amazing holiday season so far with your friends and family. When we started The Laureate we wanted to make an environment that everyone felt warm and welcomed. We believe we did just that and have cherished our time in Downtown Loveland but the universe has funny ways of pushing us in directions in life. We would like to announce that we have sold The Laureate and will be handing it over this week. The new owners are the perfect fit for downtown and we are looking forward to their concept which we know you all will embrace as you embraced us. Stay tuned this week as the new owners will introduce themselves to you all.
Lastly, thank you all again so much for allowing us to take care of you and being part of your lives. You will see us around but on your side of the bar with drink in hand.

Though Aaron and his team are excited about their own futures and believe the new owners have great ideas for the space, in my heart, it just won't be the same. I'm sure there's nothing I could have done, but I still feel that I should have stopped in to The Laureate more often, considering that I do live in Downtown.

A new year, a new pub. I'll keep you posted on what happens at the space.
