In Old Town Fort Collins, the Satin Camisole was a store that served the community for 30 years. Because of the pandemic, a lot of great local businesses are having to close their doors for good, and the Satin Camisole is the latest victim.

On their window, the store (which specializes in lingerie, swimsuits, professional bra fittings and more) posted an emotional message to the community that has since made the rounds on social media. An excerpt from the poster reads:

For us, the Satin Camisole was always about so much more than just a pretty store; it was about creating a safe space for women to shop.

The poster goes on to talk about how important it is to give women confidence in a world bombarded by unhealthy beauty standards, a philosophy I hope will still remain in our town even after the store is gone.

Satin Camisole ends their message by saying:

It is often easy to take our charming Old Town for granted because it has been lively and thriving for many years [...] But make no mistake, most small businesses have always been vulnerable. Please support your local businesses in any way that you can: they will need your support now more than ever.

The Satin Camisole's tentative closing date is August 31, and they encourage customers to come in and shop their remaining inventory.

Always sad to see a Linden Street neighbor go. Thanks for an awesome 30 years Satin Camisole!
