This Weekend: Nutcracker, Mistletoe Record, Festival of Trees
Only twenty days until Christmas, but who’s counting? These three upcoming weekend events (Dec. 6-8) can help make your countdown to Christmas a little less angsty and will quickly satisfy your early Christmas celebration itch.
You are invited to help the Canyon Concert Ballet celebrate at the 38th annual performance of The Nutcracker. The performance includes 125 dancers, 250 costumes, special effects, lighting displays, the Fort Collins Symphony Orchestra and a specially designed set, making this year’s Nutcracker show one you will want to attend. The Nutcracker will be showing at 7 p.m. on Friday; 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturday; and 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Sunday at The Lincoln Center in Fort Collins. Ticket prices range between $25 to $40.
Help Anheuser-Busch break the Guinness World Record of most couples kissing under the mistletoe at 5 p.m. this Saturday at the Anheuser-Busch Biergarten in Fort Collins. Lovers must be 21 years of age or older, and you must lock lips for at least 5 seconds in front of a backdrop of thousands of glistening lights. All kissers must be in line by 4:30 p.m.
This annual event presents a surreal forest of decorated trees, perfect for all ages to experience a little pre-Christmas magic. You and your family or friends can also be involved in activities including meeting Santa, face painting, a trip to the Montessori Academy of Northern Colorado’s Kris Kringle’s Craft Corner, Moonlight Carriage Company carriage rides, prize drawings and Christmas caroling. At the end of the night, People’s Choice, St. Nick’s Pick, and Mrs. C’s Favorite Tree awards will be passed out to trees that were voted as top favorites. This glistening event will be held from 1-5 p.m. on Saturday at Union Colony Civic Center in Greeley, Colorado. Ticket prices are $3 for adults and $2 for children ages 1-12 and seniors 60 and up.
