Senior quarterback Buck Coors helped Resurrection Christian School of Loveland roll to a 46-14 Class 2A playoff win over La Junta last weekend.

Coors helped the Cougars advance by scoring five total touchdowns — he threw for four and rushed in another.

For his efforts, Coors is this week's Townsquare Media's High School MVP.

Third-seeded Resurrection Christian now hosts sixth-seeded Platte Valley at 1 p.m. Saturday at Severance High School in the state quarterfinals.

Here's a little Q&A with the star senior:

What has made Cougar footballs so successful this season?

"There are many factors that go into making a team successful, but it all starts with our head coach Jeff Van Winkle. He did a great job of setting up an off season program that allowed us to get bigger and stronger while also bonding as a team. The physical improvement was important, but what I believe sets us apart is the way our team plays together. This is something Coach Van Winkle has emphasized since day one. It's really rare to have a team full of star caliber players that are just as excited about a teammate going off for several touchdowns as they would be if they had. This "together" mentality is what makes our team special."

What are your post-high school plans?

"My plans after high school are to go to college to play football and study business."

What's your pregame routine?

"Unlike many athletes I don't have a script I consistently follow before games. I like to watch film on the bus ride to start getting myself ready to play, but sometimes I will just talk to teammates. Football, like most sports, is as much mental as physical, especially as a quarterback, so I like to prepare mentally before we get to the field."

What's your favorite Food?

"If I'm eating on the road my go to is Chipotle but at home I'd have to say chicken fried steak."

What's your favorite TV Show?

"In my opinion, the only thing TV is good for is watching football, so I watch the Broncos but that's about it."
