The Weld County Sheriff's Office is warning residents about a recent influx of codeine in the county. A traffic stop located in Frederick earlier in June produced approximately 12 pints of liquid codeine.

The street value for the prescription narcotic is typically runs from $300 to $500 a pint. codeine, a schedule 2 controlled substance, is a type of opioid under drug classifications.

Law enforcement believes that the codeine is coming to Weld County from north Denver, by way of Del Camino.
