The days are getting shorter and the heat starts to subside in Northern Colorado. Soon, you won't be rocking those shorts and you'll be putting the top back on the Jeep as the summer-like weather comes to a close. We're only a few short weeks away until the temps start to dip and winter sets its teeth into the state.

According to Garden.org, this is when we could expect to get our first hard freeze of the season. The first Monday in October. Which is October 7. Fort Collins has a 40% chance of dipping down to a low of 28 degrees and a 90% chance by October 17. The temperatures will only go lower from there so you might want to start making plans on winterizing your home. If you have in-ground sprinklers, this task should be on the high priority list to save you from freezing lines.
