Windsor’s Oldest Building is Now a Historical Landmark
If you're rolling through Windsor today, stop and take a peek at its latest historical landmark.
The Historic Halfway Homestead is located on the Jacoby Farm, according to a Facebook post from Windsor Parks, Recreation & Culture, seen below. Built in 1873, this house is officially Windsor's oldest structure.
In its heyday, the Halfway House (named because of its location between Greeley and Laporte) was an inn, a post office, a family home, and even a saloon. Now, it will serve as a piece of Windsor history for years to come.
The purpose of turning a building into a historic landmark is all about preservation and protection of the property, so that Windsor's storied history can live on through its remaining structures. You can learn more about what makes a building a historical landmark right here.
