Winter Park Snow Measuring Cam Captures Cutest Cameo
I watched the clip 15 times trying to figure out what that cute animal is. Luckily they told me in their tweet. Hello, pine marten.
While we're all [anxious] about the winter storm that's going to blast us, take a minute to enjoy this pine marten checking out the camera that watches how much snow Winter Park receives.
I shall name him/her 'Dub-P' for 'W-inter P-ark.
Dub-P has got to be the cutest thing I've seen in a month. Look at them, scurrying around, adorable.
Dub-P is a pine marten. Don't feel bad if you hadn't heard of one yet, neither had I. Pine martens, or European pine martens, or American pine martens, is a mustelidae. Of course, we ALL know mustelidaes are the mammal family of species such as otters, badgers, and weasels.
In the video, you can see that at the time, Winter Park hadn't gotten any snowfall to be measured yet. It's not clear when that video was captured. However, it will be fun to see how much the resort gets once this storm is done dumping on them.
So far in the 2020/2021 season, the resort has gotten 62 inches, which is down about 20 inches from last season. For the entire year, the resort averages nearly 190 inches of snowfall. That much snow would hide a lot of pine martens.
