Brace yourself for a pretty warm weekend in the Fort Collins area, and with that, likely some haze. According to the National Weather Service, after dipping into the 80s on Thursday, high temps will hike again starting Friday, starting a continuous streak of over-90-degree days through at least next Wednesday.

Friday, the high is expected to reach 93 degrees in Fort Collins, with a slight chance of afternoon thunderstorms, and the forecast is nearly identical for Saturday and Sunday, too. You can see the full weekend forecast from the National Weather Service here.

Sometimes it's hard to tell what's overcast cloud coverage, and what's smoke, and if you're spending time outside, you want to know which one it is. The stagnant heat over the weekend combined with wildfire smoke may make for hazy days with air quality advisories. Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment says that this could result in 'ozone concentrations reaching the Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups category on Thursday and Friday during the afternoon and evening hours,' in parts of the Denver Metro area and in Weld County.

As of Thursday afternoon, near-surface smoke was low in the Fort Collins area, and surface visibility is over ten miles. However, CDPHE warns that if visibility is less than five miles in your area, the air is unhealthy. Before heading out, you can monitor the NOAA smoke map here.

Colorado does have at least three wildfires burning: Muddy Slide, Sylvan and Morgan Creek. But, much of the haze we've seen over the Front Range is coming from fires burning out of state — Northern California, Oregon and Idaho wildfires have all sent plumes of smoke over the Rockies.
