Bret Michaels Pulls Out of Rock ‘n’ Roll Chicago Half-Marathon Show Due to Illness
It was supposed to be nothin’ but a good time. But the finish line at the XSport Fitness Rock ‘n’ Roll Chicago Half-Marathon on Sunday was slightly less celebratory than originally planned after post-race performer Bret Michaels had to back out due to illness.
Event organizers released a statement about Michaels, saying, “We are sorry to announce that Bret Michaels was not able to take the stage this morning due to a sudden bout of severe dehydration and the flu. …The entire Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series family wishes Bret a quick and healthy recovery and we look forward to his participation at our upcoming events.”
The Poison singer and reality TV star has experienced a few health woes since 2010, most notably an emergency appendectomy and a brain hemorrhage.
Michaels has a pair of postrace Rock ‘n’ Roll Half-Marathon performances scheduled for next month, including Sept. 4 in Virginia Beach, Va., and Sept. 18 in Philadelphia.
