Benefit Concert Raises Money In Honor Of Pets Lost During Marshall Fire
Those affected by the Marshall Fire that erupted in and raged through several areas of Boulder County at the very end of 2021 lost many things - homes, businesses, personal items, and even more tragic, the lives of those who tend to complete many families - furry best friends.
Weeks after the horrific fire, the Boulder County Humane Society reported that over 100 cats and dogs had been listed as missing as a direct result of the fire; unfortunately, there were many that were never found.
Last weekend, a benefit concert was thrown in honor of those pets who were tragically lost during the December 2021 Marshall Fire.
On Saturday, Apr. 2, Louisville Rising, a local non-profit organization that puts on a variety of fundraising projects in an effort to put dollars directly into the pockets of local businesses and individuals who have been adversely affected by the Marshall Fire and other events, put on the concert which was attended by hundreds of people supporting the cause.
The benefit concert took place at the Steinbaugh Pavillion in Louisville, CO.
The non-profit has already been able to raise a substantial amount of funds - through other events - that have since been directed toward families displaced, home rebuilds, and other structural damage; this benefit concert, however, aimed to shed extra special light on the pets directly affected by the fire.
“One thing that you know not enough people are talking about [are] the different traumas that people went through, and one of those is some lost friends,” said Caleb Dickinson, organizer of Louisville Rising, according to KDVR.
“There’s still a few hundred unaccounted for out there, and we wanted to do what we can to memorialize them and try to bring everybody together,” said Scott Southern, an event supporter.
