The City of Greeley Public Art Program recently announced the 2017 Sculpture on Loan People’s Choice Award winner is “Running Girl” by Harold Linke, of Evergreen, Colorado. Over 1,500 visitors cast votes for their favorite sculpture during the 2017 Arts Picnic.

“Running Girl”, located on the north side of Glenmere Park, is a dynamic piece made of silvery metal strands shaped in the image of a running girl holding ribbons. The ribbon appears to flow through the air. The sculpture will be on display until May 2018.

The Sculpture on Loan program was initiated in 1995 by the Greeley Art Commission. Each year new artwork is selected and displayed in public areas and community parks. Sculptors lend their work to the city for one year in exchange of an honorarium. The People’s Choice Award was introduced as a way for city staff to learn more about the types of art preferred by the public. The piece which gets the most votes wins a monetary award.
