The folks at Credible have compiled a list of 30 counties in Colorado that have the lowest home prices - and you might be very surprised how affordable housing is in many Colorado counties.
To come up with the ranking, Credible used data from the National Association of Realtors showing median home values and monthly mortgage payments in Colorado. Mortgage numbers were calculated using a 30-year fixed-rate mortgage with a 10% down payment.
Montrose County Makes the Top 30
Montrose County made the top 30 list with a median home value in 2020 of $236,800 with an average monthly mortgage payment of $877. That monthly payment number from 2020 is down from the $947 monthly mortgage payment in 2019.
Western Colorado Counties On the List
As we move down the list we see places like Dolores County in southwest Colorado where the median home value is just $123,000 with a $456 monthly mortgage.
If you head up to the extreme northwest corner of the state in Moffat County you'll find the 23rd lowest home values and mortgage costs in the state. The median home value in Moffat County is reported to be $192,400 with a monthly mortgage payment of $712, which is 6.2% less than it was in 2019.
