The Poudre School District will begin allowing students and staff back into school on Monday.

Preschoolers, kindergarteners, first graders and second graders will begin a phased return on Monday (Oct. 5). PSD superintendent Sandra Smyser welcomed back the students with a video on Thursday (Oct. 1).

The hybrid education includes a mix of both in-person and remote learning. To learn more about PSD's educational phases for the 2020-2021 school year, click here.

As for health and safety protocols, all students and staff will be required to wear face coverings in school. Parents and guardians are responsible for providing their children with proper face coverings that mask both the nose and mouth.

In addition,

  • Families must check their student(s) for COVID-19 symptoms daily; Students are not to be sent to school if they are sick or have a fever of over 100.4 degrees
  • Staff members will be required to use a COVID-19 screening app daily and must receive a "green light" from the app before entering any PSD facility. Those who are sick must stay home
  • Staff or students experiencing COVID-19 symptoms or are otherwise sick should report to the nurse’s office where they will be evaluated; If a student is determined to be too sick to stay at school, a parent or guardian will be contacted and is responsible for picking up their student

The message notes that the Poudre School District follows current health guidance from the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment and Larimer County Department of Health and Environment. In the event that positive cases and/or outbreaks arise, PSD will follow the most recent LCDHE guidance for cases and outbreaks in schools.
