Improvements Being Made to a Number of Greeley Parks This Summer
There are several City of Greeley parks slated for improvements this summer.
- Work begins this week on the irrigation system at Pheasant Run Park. The park will remain open during construction with completion expected by August 31.
- A new irrigation system is going in at Anna Gimmestad Park. The park will remain open during construction with completion expected by July 15.
- In addition to the lighting project that’s currently underway at Glenmere Park, the playground is also being replaced toward the end of summer. The improvement includes complete removal and replacement of the playground. There will also be additional new benches, trash cans, and picnic tables.
- Replacement of cracked, buckling and separated asphalt pathways are happening at Sanborn Park. Walking trails will be closed during the project, which should last throughout the summer.
- Twenty five parks throughout the city will receive new rules and regulations signage. The signs are part of a larger project that complements the design of the name signs installed in 2016.
- The basketball courts at Bittersweet, Sherwood, Swanson Kiwanis, Sunrise, Delta, Ramseier, and Sherwood will experience temporary closures while court surfacing is repaired this summer.
- The tennis courts at Sherwood Park are also getting a face lift. Surface is cracked and crumbling and the work done on these courts over the summer will restore it to a playable surface.
- Starting mid-summer, work will begin on the Youth Sports Complex Parking lot and lighting expansion. Construction activity will extend through late fall.
Aside from some temporary closures, City of Greeley Parks staff plan improvements with the goal of minimizing impact to neighboring residents and park users. Construction activity should take place primarily on weekdays, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
