Why Extra DUI Enforcement Will Be in Colorado and Wyoming On Friday
Law enforcement agencies in both Colorado and Wyoming will be on high alert on Friday, November 3, to ensure there are no drunk drivers on the road.
On Friday, one of the biggest football games of the season, The Border War, featuring the Colorado State Rams and the University of Wyoming Cowboys, is going to take place in Laramie, and law enforcement in both Colorado and Wyoming will do everything they can to prevent a tragedy from taking place.
Where DUI Enforcement Will Be Focused
The multi-state and multi-agency operation will take place on both I-25 and Highway 287 in Colorado, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation.
Here is the official statement from CDOT.
The focus of the enforcement will be a 65 mile stretch of US 287 between Ft. Collins and Laramie Wyoming. I-25 between Cheyenne and Ft Collins will also be patrolled. Agencies will use saturation patrols to target dangerous drivers under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol.
Car Fatalities Linked to Alcohol
CDOT reports that a third of fatal crashes in the Centennial State include an impaired driver.
According to the Colorado Department of Transportation, Colorado has an extremely high rate of impaired driving cases. A few years ago, there were more than 26,000 in a year.
How To Avoid a DUI
The obvious answer is not to drink when you are planning on driving. The best options are not to drink, have a designated driver, or consider using a ridesharing app like Uber or Lyft.
The Border War is going to be a thrilling night and expect there to be a lot of drama on the field. There is no excuse for you to bring drama outside of the field.
