Kroger Recalling Frozen Berries Linked to Hepatitis A
If you bought frozen berries from a King Soopers store recently, you'll want to check the date on the package.
The FDA has alerted consumers of a hepatitis A virus contamination of frozen blackberries under the Kroger Private Selection label.
The impacted products being recalled include:
- 48-ounce packages of Private Selection Frozen Triple Berry Medley with a best buy date of July 7, 2020. (UPC code of 0001111079120)
- 16-ounce packages of Private Selection Frozen Triple Berry Medley with a best buy date of June 19, 2020. ( UPC code of 0001111087808)
- 16-ounce packages of Private Selection Frozen Blackberries with best buy dates of June 19, 2020 and July 2, 2020. ( UPC code of 0001111087809)
Hepatitis A can have serious health consequences including liver damage. People infected with Hepatitis A may not have symptoms until two weeks or a month after exposure.
According to the FDA, Hepatitis A symptoms can include "fever, headache, fatigue, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, yellowing of the skin or eyes (known as jaundice), dark urine, and pale stool."
