A man's body was recovered from Loveland's Westerdoll Lake on Thursday night (July 22).

According to the Loveland Police Department via Twitter, officials were called to the lake at  about 8:30 p.m. Thursday on reports that a person was missing in the water.

“One person came ashore with a two-person boat — a kayak or canoe, I’m not sure which — and said another person was still in the lake,” said Tom Hacker, spokesman for the Loveland Police Department.

Loveland Fire Rescue Authority's Dive Team responded immediately to reports of the missing man; they took to the lake, which is located just west of Boyd Lake, upon arriving at the scene, while other crews searched the land around the lake until the body was located.

By 9:50 p.m. Thursday night, fire officials reported that the dive team had found and recovered the man's body.

At 10:07 p.m., the victim was pronounced dead, as per information from the Loveland Police Department.

The identity, age and hometown of the deceased victim have were not released on Thursday night; no further information was released regarding the incident as of Friday morning (July 23).

The Loveland Police Department Criminal Investigations Unit is currently investigating the death. This story will be updated once more information becomes available.
