Odell Brewing Co. Shares Inside Look at Winery’s ‘First Crush’
Welcome to the Afternoon Club, your hub for boozy inspiration. Whether you're a craft beer snob or like the occasional white wine, we'll find something for you to drink this week. Cheers!
Odell Brewing Co. is crushing The OBC Wine Project...literally.
A few weeks ago, the brewery's staff teamed up for the first on-site "crush" at the winery. Odell Brewing Co. posted a sneak peek of the ordeal on Instagram, sharing photos of the team getting Colorado Aromella grapes into the crush and de-stemming machines.
But what exactly are Aromella grapes?
According to the American Society for Horticultural Science, the Aromella grape "is a winter-hardy white wine grape with high potential productivity and aromatic/muscat wine characteristics."
In case you didn't understand that scientific jargon (I sure didn't), you can sample the grapes for yourself at The OBC Wine Project, which is open from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Mondays and Tuesdays, 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday through Thursday, and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on the weekends.
Odell Brewing Co. launched the winery earlier this year in an effort to explore "the brewery's shared passion for the art of winemaking."
"We're not bound by tradition. We aren't bound by geography or wine rules for our region," Kelly Wagner, Winery Taproom Manager at The OBC Wine Project, told Townsquare NoCo. "We want to do something experimental and combine our love of beer and wine and just open minds and palettes."
