Palisade Peaches Are Ready, Here Are Some Ways To Enjoy Them
Palisade Peaches, it's a Colorado thing that until I moved here, had no idea about but after sinking my teeth into my first one, within seconds, I knew exactly what all of the fuss was about.
Sweet, juicy, delicious. They really are the perfect combination and tis' the season to enjoy them to the fullest as the harvest is upon us.
Typically the harvest season will start around mid July through the end of September depending on weather conditions and if there are any late spring freezes which thankfully both of those things cooperated with farmers this year.
Palisade Peaches are grown on the Western Slope of Colorado where thanks to the abundant sunshine combined with the cooler temperatures at night are the perfect combo for the ultimate sweetness that exudes from every juicy bite.
The town of Palisade itself is the pride and joy of the peach and where their famous Peach Festival is getting underway today and running through Saturday Aug. 13.
Of course, you don't have to travel all the way to the other side of the state to get these little juicy sweet bundles of goodness, they will be available at farmers markets and grocery stores here in Northern Colorado as well and if you don't want to go on a search for them, you can simply have them delivered right to your front door.
In addition to just enjoying them as a snack themselves, I personally love to grill them. Simple peel and take the seed out, slice them and sprinkle a little brown sugar on the peeled side and put them on top of vanilla ice cream.
There are a few other ideas that I've been seeing on Twitter that ook and sound extremely delicious too:
That's just a few of the ways to thoroughly enjoy palisade peaches but of course there are more, lots more.
