For many of us, the idea of 'the holidays' conjures up images of juicy turkey, sweet cranberry relish, and fluffy potatoes. Unfortunately, not every Coloradoan can afford these Thanksgiving staples.

"A recent report from Feeding America showed that food insecurity in Larimer County has risen by an estimated 27% this year," said Amy Pezzani, CEO of the Food Bank for Larimer County, in our "Tuned In to NoCo" interview.

Thankfully, the Food Bank is here to assist Northern Coloradans in need. Here's how you can help them do that:

Donate to Townsquare Cares: Feeding NoCo

Townsquare Media is partnering with the Larimer and Weld County food banks for the third annual Townsquare Cares: Feeding NoCo, an initiative that aims to provide holiday meals for families facing food insecurity in Northern Colorado.

100% of the proceeds from the campaign will go towards each respective food bank. You can donate online here or by texting FeedNoCo to 50155.

Drop Off a Turkey at the Food Bank for Larimer County

While the Food Bank usually prefers cash donations due to acquisition logistics, they do need turkeys this year.

"We have had requests for more than 6,500 turkeys from our agency partners this year," said Pezzani. "This is by far the highest number we've ever seen."

You can drop off a turkey at the Food Bank's Fort Collins location (1301 Blue Spruce Dr.) or their Loveland distribution warehouse (5706 Wright Dr.). On Nov. 18, the Food Bank will also be accepting turkeys at the corner of Drake Rd. and College Ave and at the Orchards Shopping Center in Loveland.

Volunteer at the Food Bank for Larimer County

The Food Bank for Larimer County is in need of volunteers, particularly at their food share facility in Loveland (2600 N. Lincoln Ave.).

"Those are volunteers that help us by stocking shelves, by checking in clients, [and] by helping clients access food on a daily basis," said Pezzani. "We really are in need of volunteers at that specific location and [are] always accepting volunteers at our other locations."

You can sign up to volunteer at the Food Bank here.
