After month of burning and smoke-filled skies in Northern Colorado, we are now just eight percent away from the Cameron Peak Fire being fully contained.

On Wednesday morning the Cameron Peak Fire Facebook page shared a 92 percent containment update for the Cameron Peak Fire. With 208,913 acres burned since August 13, the Cameron Peak Fire steadily grew to be the largest fire in Colorado's history.

Although trees have been compromised and will continue falling for the next year or so,  devastation from the Cameron Peak Fire is finally coming to a halt.

Fire crews are now shifting to fire suppression repair which is post-fire action intended to minimize potential soil erosion.

Snow is on the forecast for Sunday and Monday, according to the National Weather Service, which will hopefully aid fire crews in ending this wildfire season.
