Colorado Legislature Approves Continuation of Alcohol Delivery, To-Go
The Colorado Legislature has passed a bill that will allow alcohol takeout and delivery to continue until next year.
The bill was originally supposed to extend to-go booze until 2022, but KRDO reports that the final version of the bill has an earlier end date of July 1, 2021, when the bill will automatically expire.
The bill places the following stipulations on applicable retailers:
- liquor containers that are over 750 milliliters may not be sold
- beer (or another similar beverage) containers that are over 72 ounces may not be sold
- revenue from to-go alcohol sales must not surpass 50% of the retailer's gross sales revenue
- retailers must have a permit to sell/deliver to-go alcohol
However, these conditions do not apply to retailers if Governor Polis declares a state of emergency.
Regardless of whether or not Colorado is in a state of emergency, retailers must not sell alcohol to anyone under 21-years-old, and delivery drivers must be over 21 years of age.
Now, the bill will go to Polis for a final approval.
