Larimer County Deputy Assaulted Sunday Morning in Laporte
A deputy with the Larimer County Sheriff's Office was assaulted early Sunday morning after responding to a call in the town of Laporte.
28 year old Tyler Simmons was transported to the Larimer County Jail after officials were called to the 3300 block of Burns Street to check on a call where someone was intoxicated and threatening to harm himself.
After Simmons was put into custody, he started to kick the window of the patrol vehicle while sitting in the backseat. While officials attempted to secure him, Simmons kicked a deputy in the throat and also tried to kick two other deputies.
Simmons has been booked on the following allegations:
- 2nd Degree Assault on a Peace Officer
- Criminal Attempt 2nd Degree Assault (2 charges)
- Obstructing Government Operations
- Violation of Bail Bond Conditions
The deputy who was injured at the scene was cleared by a local hospital and only sustained minor injuries.
Simmons is innocent until proven guilty.
